Your experience matters
Whether you’ve received or provided doula care, your lived experience has the power to inspire, connect, and shape change. We believe storytelling can be one of the most impactful tools in increase understanding and improve care. When you share what it felt like to be supported, or what it meant to show up for someone else, you help bring the value of doula care to life in ways data alone cannot.
From time to time, through focused campaigns and initiatives, we collect stories, host listening sessions, gather testimony, and offer responsive programs that address the real experiences of birthing people and doulas in Maine. These efforts help us uncover gaps in care, elevate community wisdom, and move systems toward equity and accountability.

Why We Collect Stories
-
To amplify lived experience in conversations about healthcare access, birth equity, and maternal mental health.
-
To build connections among families, doulas, and communities who may feel isolated or unheard.
-
To inform our policy advocacy, programs, and outreach.
-
To center the voices of people most impacted by gaps in care.
-
To foster peer support among doulas by sharing real stories of challenge, resilience, and impact within the birthwork community.
Your lived experience helps to make the case for change for speaking with lawmakers, designing community-based programs, or co-facilitating trainings.
