The Doula Access Leadership Initiative centers diverse lived experiences from communities across Maine, ensuring all voices guide equitable access to doula care and support. Funded through the Maine Health Access Foundation in partnership with the Maine Women's Lobby.
Overview

Engage in work to change Maine’s policies on how doulas are funded by moving the state toward access via Medicaid and private insurance.**

Create a more sustainable infrastructure for underserved populations to access doula services.

Expand leadership opportunities within the doula community, and to impacted birthing people to plan and execute a statewide campaign to educate policymakers, healthcare providers, organizations and the public about doulas.

Learn from culturally-specific organizations and individuals about their successes and challenges to increasing access to doula care within their communities.
